Trails to the « Borne des Quatre Seigneurs »
From Peppange, Bettembourg, Hellange, Dudelange and Zoufftgen, five star-shaped paths lead to the "Borne des Quatre Seigneurs", a 1.200-year-old sandstone from Roman times. The "Borne des Quatre Seigneurs" circuit was born of an initiative by the communes of Roeser and Zoufftgen, who have been checking the border markers between France and Luxembourg every year since the 1980s. The idea of re-establishing the old customs trail was born during one of these checks. The trail starts at "4 Haere-Maark", a place where, in the Middle Ages, four seigneurial estates met. The communes of Bettembourg, Dudelange and Frisange, which also border on the Zoufftgen commune, were included in the project, and four additional footpaths from these partner localities to the "Borne des Quatre Seigneurs" have been created. Information panels have been erected along the paths through the various communities, providing information on local heritage and themes characteristic of the region. The signs on the educational trail starting in Peppange, for example, provide information on the Benedictine convent and the public wash-house located there. The "Borne des Quatre Seigneurs" trail was officially inaugurated on May 10, 2014.
The cultural and historical educational trails were developed by the five partner municipalities in close collaboration with the "Amis de l'Histoire" of Roeserbann and Bettembourg and the "Fondation Linster-Weydert". The paths and information panels were designed and created by Oeko-Bureau of Rumelange
